Plates and Bowls

Ceramic plates and bowls in assorted colours, including dinner plates, side plates, deep plates, and bowls

Not everyone needs a full dinnerware set. Sometimes you just need four more bowls, a set of side plates in a different colour, or a few deep plates to make pasta nights feel a little more intentional. This category is built for exactly that kind of targeted shopping.

When does it make sense to buy plates and bowls individually?

Buying individual piece types gives you much more flexibility than committing to a full service. You can fill gaps in an existing set, replace pieces that have been chipped or broken, or deliberately mix different colours across plate types for a more layered table. A grey dinner plate with a blue deep plate and a white bowl, for example, creates variety without looking unplanned, especially when the shapes and finishes share a similar quality.

All pieces here are ceramic and sold in sets of four or eight, which makes it straightforward to match your cover count whether you're shopping for a small household or a busier one. Sets of eight are particularly good value if you entertain regularly, as they give you enough breathing room to lose a piece or two over time without immediately running short.

Which piece type does which job?

  • Dinner plates are the main event. Wide and flat with a raised rim, they're designed to give food space to be presented properly without things sliding off the edge. Most main courses belong here.
  • Side plates are smaller versions of the dinner plate, used for bread, salad, or a starter. They're also handy as a general-purpose plate for lighter meals, snacks, or anything where a full dinner plate would feel excessive.
  • Deep plates sit between a flat plate and a bowl. The raised sides make them ideal for pasta, risotto, stews, and anything with a sauce that would pool awkwardly on a flat surface. They're genuinely one of the more useful pieces to have in regular rotation.
  • Bowls are the most versatile piece type in the category. Breakfast, soup, salad, fruit — a good ceramic bowl earns its place on the table at every meal of the day.

Are these plates and bowls dishwasher and microwave safe?

All pieces in this range are dishwasher safe and microwave safe, which makes them practical enough for daily use without any fuss. You can reheat leftovers straight from the fridge without switching to a different vessel, and clearing up after a meal is as quick as loading the dishwasher. Always check the individual product page to confirm before use, as care instructions can vary slightly between specific items.
